The
Ecole Primaire Catholic School de Butare is a public primary school in Butare, Rwanda, two hours south of the capital Kigali in the beautiful lakes region of
East-Central Africa.
The school was built in the 1930s by Catholic missionaries
and approximately 500 students are enrolled at the school now.
All of the school buildings were damaged or
destroyed during the genocide/war in 1994 and have been in disrepair since.
All of
the buildings on the school grounds are in dire need of repair but our goal on
this trip will be to restore a building with six classrooms that are not being
used due to the severity of the damage.
|
On
August 4, 2007 out team will dedicate six fully restored classrooms with a new
roof, new windows and doors, fresh paint and flowers, and on the Monday after we
leave there will be 200 young Rwandan scholars in those six classrooms feeling
loved and ready to learn.
To
accomplish this goal we need volunteers to join us and we need your donations
for the roof, windows, doors, paint, black boards, concrete, desks, chairs,
books, and everything else needed for the project.
Please
call or email Brian Anderson at (786-390-6418 bjafla@gmail.com ) to join the
team or to make a donation.
